WEATHER
The
crews aboard our boats are very experienced, our Captain's
have been fishing these waters for most of their lives.and
the weather in Cabo is mostly consistent through out
the year. Although, some months we may experience
some weather problems..Not to worry!
The
Captain's will not take you out in unsafe conditions...
the Captain's review Weather Reports every morning
and if there are serious weather conditions in the
forecast, port authorities will notify you so that
you can re-schedule or cancel your charter for a full
refund. Only the port authority or Float Director
can cancel a fishing trip due to weather conditions.
FISHING
TEQUNIQUES
There are two techniques for fishing in Cabo San Lucas,
trolling and casting. Trolling is very effective;
you can troll artificial lures or live bait. When
trolling, put three to five fishing lines in the water
with lures of all sizes and colors. The boat travels
approx. 8 - 9 knots in order for the lure to work
correctly. Casting is applied when the captain sees
a fish afloat (striped marlin, sailfish, and swordfish)
and gets as close as possible in order to throw live
bait to it. This technique is very exciting because
you have the opportunity to see the fish go for the
live bait and get hooked! On all of our charters,
we include live bait for the day. Sometimes the captain
or the mate will suggest buying extra bait for your
day of fishing. We do not approve or disapprove of
this recommendation; since they know what is biting
at the time and how much live bait is lost in the
process of casting, we leave this decision up to you.
We are always willing to let you apply your own technique
or hook setting; but remember, the captains and the
mates know these waters better than anyone else.
CATCH
AND RELEASE
While
Sport fishing in Cabo there's a few rules you should
know about. only one Marlin, or Billfish, can be killed
and brought aboard your boat. But, you can catch and
release as many as you like.
GRATUITIES
The
Captains and crew depend on gratuities to supplement
their income so at the end of the day(we recommend
15 - 20% of charter price for gratuity) to reward
them for their hard work. The crews are usually very
helpful and will assist you in any way possible. You
can give the gratuities to the captain and he will
split it with crew members.
LOST ITEMS
Please
be aware of all items you bring aboard the charter,
and upon departure collect all items at this time.
CaboFunVacations.com and crew can not be held responsible
for items left aboard the charters.
LICENSES
A
Valid Mexican Sport Fishing license is required by
all non-resident anglers 16 years of age and above.
All persons aboard a Fishing Charter that has fishing
equipment or fish parts aboard in Mexican waters require
a fishing license. The cost of the license is usually
$12 us - $15 us depending on fleet.

FISHING TIPS
Cleaning
of Catch
Most
crews aboard charters will clean and fillet your catch
for a tip or a small fee can be paid at dock usually
around $10 - $12 us.
Supplies
If
you plan to take your catch home with you, be prepared
with a cooler which can be purchase locally or at
the Marina . (if purchased at marina prices tend to
cost more, we suggest at a local store)
Dress
Be
sure to dress comfortable and we suggest bringing
proper shoes, hat, sunscreen, camera, etc. (also a
light jacket is sometimes needed for windy conditions
or if temperature drops)
Tackle
If
you decide bring your own Rod and Reels, make sure
they are in the best working condition, have the correct
leaders, and fresh main line is used. You do not want
catch that Dream Fish and not be prepared.
Motion
Sickness
If
you are susceptible to motion sickness, we recommend
taking over-the-counter medication like Dramamine
or Bonine. It is best to take the medication the night
before and as soon as you wake on the morning of your
charter. Some people have
found
Sea-Band wrist bands may help also.
